Sparkler writing

We decided to improve our writing by using sparklers to inspire us. We talked about how to use sparklers safely and then enjoyed looking and writing about the sparklers crackling light. We began with the sentence: We lit a sparkler. Then we used adjectives, fronted adverbials, conjunctions and subordinate clauses to make some brilliant sentences. For example:
Outside the class, we lit a light. The light was called a sparkler, and I can see why . . . It shone like the stars in all the mist and fog today.

In the classroom this morning, we lit a shiny, thin sparkler carefully and steadily.
